The Hawaiian goddess Pele traveled across the islands in search of a home and running from her sister, Nāmaka, who wanted to kill her. Her path follows accurately the geological age of each of the islands.

Julia Louise Pereira is an award-winning illustrator and multidisciplinary artist living in Toronto, Canada. She’s inspired by folklore and uses ethereal and whimsical imagery to question our deepest fears, desires, and beliefs. Work that synthesizes urban and wildlife is particularly interesting to her. She currently works in watercolor, gouache, mixed media, ceramics and murals.
